Jiří Ornest

Jiří Ornest was a Czech actor, director, and a legendary member of Divadlo Na zábradlí, where he performed from the 1970s. A graduate of DAMU, he became known for his naturalistic and ironic acting style, his work in dubbing, as well as for television and film roles (Burning Bush, Miracles of Life, Protektor, or Masaryk). He was praised as “an actor with depth and perspective.” His wife was the actress Daniela Kolářová. Jiří Ornest is regarded as one of the most prominent figures of Czech theatre of the 20th century.
