Jakub Šafr

Jakub Šafr is a Czech pianist, musician, and bandleader, and one of the leading figures of the Czech jazz and swing scene. He started playing piano at the age of six, soon winning awards in national competitions and gaining recognition at solo concerts. At the conservatory, he specialized in 1930s jazz, and at just twenty became the pianist for Ondřej Havelka’s Melody Makers, where he later took on the role of bandleader. Today he leads several ensembles – Shaffer’s Riffers, Swing Trio Avalon, and the Jakub Šafr Quartet – and regularly collaborates with singer Petra Ernyeiová. He is a sought-after musician not only on concert stages but also in theatre projects, where he brings his energy, improvisation, and sense of humor.
