    Ivana Uhlířová

    Ivana Uhlířová is a Czech theatre, film and television actress and one of the most distinctive personalities of contemporary Czech theatre. She graduated from the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava and already during her studies performed as a guest at Divadlo Petra Bezruče. After graduation she worked at the Municipal Theatre in Karlovy Vary and later collaborated with a number of stages including Divadlo Husa na provázku, A studio Rubín and Divadlo v Řeznické. She became especially prominent during her engagement at Prague’s Divadlo Komedie (2004–2012), where she created dozens of roles. She has also appeared at MeetFactory, Švandovo divadlo, Divadlo na Vinohradech and Studio Hrdinů and participated in international theatre projects in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Slovakia. At the Městská divadla pražská she created notable roles in productions such as Hamlet and The Little Foxes directed by Michal Dočekal. Besides acting, she also works on directing and authorial projects. On stage, Ivana Uhlířová is appreciated for her intensity, physical expressiveness and psychological depth. She has received the Alfred Radok Award twice and several international awards. She appeared in the films Poupata and Arvéd and in television series such as Bratři a sestry, Osada and Specialisté.
