Petra Bučková

Petra Bučková is a Czech actress who is not afraid to stand out from the crowd. She admits that classic female roles often bore her, and she secretly envies Heath Ledger for his legendary portrayal of the Joker. She left home at the age of seventeen and worked in an office for two years before enrolling at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) in Brno. She was accepted to JAMU on her first try, and after graduating, she performed on several prominent stages. She has acted at the Petr Bezruč Theatre, HaDivadlo, the Husa na provázku Theatre, and the Polárka Theatre, and made guest appearances at the Reduta Theatre (National Theatre Brno) as well as the cellar stage of Divadlo U stolu. Since 2011, she has been part of Lukáš Hejlík's original scenic reading project Listování (featuring works like Gottland, The Little Girl and the Cigarette, and Saint Barbara). For twelve years, she also worked as a Medical Clown; under the name Dr. René Rentgenová, she visited patients in hospitals across the Czech Republic and Austria. Petra Bučková is an actress who embraces challenges and, thanks to her authenticity, is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Czech theatre.
