    Josef Zíma

    Josef Zíma

Josef Zíma was a Czech actor, singer, and television host, often nicknamed the “King of Czech Brass Music.” A graduate of DAMU, he began his career at the theatre in Teplice and later performed at Prague’s ABC Theatre and the Municipal Theatres of Prague. He became famous not only on stage but also on screen – his most iconic role being Prince Radovan in the legendary fairy tale The Princess with the Golden Star. As a singer, he charmed audiences with songs from films and musicals, becoming one of the most prominent figures of the Czech music scene in the 1960s. Critics and audiences alike describe him as “the gentleman of Czech popular music” and “an icon who managed to unite theatre, film, and music in one personality.” Josef Zíma remains a symbol of charm, humor, and elegance, beloved by generations of audiences.
