Jiří Nesvadba
Jiří Nesvadba was a Czech director, screenwriter, scenographer, actor, and visual artist who had a major influence on Czech theatre and television in the second half of the 20th century. After World War II, he worked at the National Theatre Studio and later in Mladá Boleslav. In the 1950s, he served as artistic director of the Horácké Theatre in Jihlava and later directed at the Workers’ Theatre in then Gottwaldov (today Zlín). From 1958, he built his career at Czechoslovak Television, where he became a respected director. Critics praised his versatility and his ability to combine visual imagination with strong dramatic structure. Jiří Nesvadba is still remembered as a creator who gave his productions a distinctive style and sense of detail.
