Martin Modrý
Martin Modrý is a Czech theatre director, playwright, dramaturg and composer, and one of the most distinctive voices of the young theatre generation. He studied drama directing at JAMU in Brno, where he gained attention with original, visually bold and socially resonant productions. During his studies, he also worked as an assistant director at Divadlo Husa na provázku and collaborated with independent projects and student ensembles.
His work is characterised by a precise sense for contemporary atmosphere, strong visual storytelling, rhythmic stage language and a sensitivity to the themes of the young generation, combining humour with existential depth. He is best known for the acclaimed production Jednou nám za to děcka poděkujou (Husa na provázku Theatre). His music work includes, for example, Krysař at the Petr Bezruč Theatre.
Martin Modrý represents theatre that is contemporary, visually striking and intellectually open. He belongs to artists who blend a distinctive authorial voice, precise actor direction and a strong commentary on the world we live in.
