Petr Šesták is a Czech writer, playwright, and journalist, recognized as one of the most distinctive contemporary authors exploring urban life, modern-day pressure, and the hidden dramas of everyday existence. He studied Czech literature and journalism at Masaryk University and worked as a journalist for many years before fully dedicating himself to literature.
He gained wider attention with his novel Vyhoření (Burnout), which received critical acclaim and sparked an important discussion about work-life balance and the psychological strain of modern society. The book was nominated for the Magnesia Litera 2023 award. He debuted with Štvanice, followed by Kontinuita parku, works that showcase his keen ability to observe people in both their intense and quiet moments.
