    Libuše Švormová

Libuše Švormová is a respected Czech actress and a legendary dubbing artist with a distinctive voice and natural elegance. She is considered one of the major figures of Czech theatre in the second half of the 20th century. After graduating from DAMU, she performed at the theatre in Pardubice, at the Prague Municipal Theatres, and at the E. F. Burian Theatre, where she created dozens of remarkable roles ranging from comedy to dramatic character parts. Audiences know her not only from the stage but also from film and television — she appeared in series such as Kukačky, Krejzovi, Život na zámku and Dnes v jednom domě. Her voice is an essential part of Czech dubbing history: she became famous as the Czech voice of actresses Giulietta Masina and Judi Dench. The media often referred to her as “the queen of Czech dubbing,” and she received the František Filipovský Award for her dubbing achievements. Her long-time partner was writer Jan Otčenášek (1924–1979), and in 1982 she married Jan Patera.
