Karel Pavlík
Karel Pavlík (1912–1973) was a Czech stage and film actor whose strong presence, distinctive voice and precise character work made him a respected figure of Czech theatre. A graduate of the Prague State Conservatory, he first appeared as an extra at the National Theatre and soon began a professional career that led him through major stages: the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, the City Theatre in Plzeň, the Vinohrady Theatre, Divadlo 5. května and later the Prague Municipal Theatres, where he eventually served as administrative director.
On stage, Pavlík excelled in character roles full of integrity and strength, such as Curry in The Rainmaker, Sur Face in The School for Scandal or the Neighbor in The Wrong Window. In film, he appeared mostly in small but memorable parts, working regularly from the end of World War II throughout his career. His consistent acting style and reliability made him a valued member of every ensemble he joined.
