Peter Scherhaufer
Peter Scherhaufer (1942–1999) was a prominent Slovak director, playwright, teacher, and one of the co-founders of the legendary theatre Husa na provázku, where he worked for more than three decades and helped define its signature style, fundamentally reshaping the form of modern Czech theatre. After studying directing at JAMU, he developed a distinctive approach full of improvisation, clownery, montage, and playful theatrical perspective. He became one of the most influential figures of the Brno avant-garde, and his productions are considered iconic. His work influenced generations of artists and expanded the horizons of modern theatre.
Among his most famous productions at “Provázek” are Commedia dell’Arte with Bolek Polívka, the cult Shakespeare-mania cycle (Veličenstvo Blázni, Lidé Hamleti, Člověk Bouře) and the visually rich Labyrint světa a lusthaus srdce.
