Franta Kocourek
Franta Kocourek (1949–1991) was a legendary Brno actor, entertainer, master of hantec slang and wrestler whose explosive energy could light up even the darkest stage. Audiences still associate him with the Divadlo Husa na provázku ensemble, where he became one of its most distinctive personalities in the 1970s and 80s. His roles were wild, physical, spontaneous and always 100% authentic — Kocourek didn’t act, Kocourek lived.
He entered the national spotlight in 1975 when he set out to turn the unassuming Ruda Kovanda into the winner of the Golden Nightingale music award. And surprisingly, he came very close to making it happen.
