Václav Sloup

Václav Sloup was an actor with an unmistakable comedic talent and a face that audiences fell in love with instantly. He became famous for portraying distinctive characters whose performances blended innocence with sharp wit. Who wouldn't know Mažňák from The Mystery of the Puzzle (Záhada hlavolamu) or the driver Čahoun? Yet Václav Sloup was not just a television star, even though the public remembers him well from many cult series such as The Cottagers (Chalupáři), Hospital at the End of the City, or The Street (Ulice). He spent his best theatrical years at the Divadlo Na zábradlí and later starred at the S. K. Neumann Theatre (now Theatre under the Palmovka) and the Vinohrady Theatre. Beyond acting, he was a passionate rose grower and a man who could transform even the smallest roles into unforgettable characters.
