Pavel Borák
Pavel Borák is a Czech stage and costume designer and one of the notable figures of contemporary theatre scenography. He graduated from the Theatre Faculty of JAMU in Brno and has since worked in numerous Czech and Slovak theatres, creating more than one hundred stage designs. His work is characterized by architectural precision, a strong sense of material and atmosphere, and the ability to draw audiences into the story from the very first visual moment.
In 2010 he received the DOSKY Award for Best Scenography for the production of The Misanthrope at the Slovak Chamber Theatre in Martin. He has been nominated for this prestigious honour multiple times, including for The Brothers Karamazov and The Bride of the Mountains. Critics describe him as an artist who seamlessly combines technical mastery with dramatic imagination, crafting stage environments that are not merely backgrounds but integral parts of theatrical storytelling.
