Даніель Майлінг
Daniel Majling is a prominent Slovak author, playwright, and dramaturge, known for his distinctive humor, irony, and sharp observations of human flaws. He studied dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU) and, after ten years at the Andrej Bagar Theatre in Nitra, joined the Drama Ensemble of the Slovak National Theatre, where he continues to work as both dramaturge and writer.
Readers know him mainly for his cult comic Rudo, as well as for the graphic novel Zóna and the short story collection Ruzká klazika, which was shortlisted for the prestigious Anasoft Litera award and won both the Readers’ Prize and the René Prize. Majling skillfully blends philosophy with grotesque, seriousness with dark humor – his writing is clever, insightful, and refreshingly self-aware.
