Katia Kabanova
Katia’s longing for freedom transports her story through a series of dramatic events in this original production by Leoš Janáček, filmed in Bouffes du Nord Theater, Paris. Trapped in a hostile lower middle class village and a marriage of convenience, Katia meets Boris, who declares his love for her. Tormented by her passion for Boris and his imminent departure, her growing humiliation and deteriorating sanity push her to disappear in the black waters of the Volga. Praised both by press and public, “Katia Kabanova” received the award for Best Lyrical Show Of The Year, in 2012.
