Hamburg State Opera

Staatsoper Hamburg is an opera company based in Hamburg, Germany, dating back to 1678, when the first national public opera house was established by Hamburg’s art-loving citizens. Staatsoper Hamburg also became the first company to broadcast its operas in color on television. The company won the Opera House of the Year award by the German magazine Opernwelt in 1997 and in 2005.
