Eneida is a heroic mystery in two acts, created after the famous work by Ivan Kotlyarevskyi. It tells the story of the Trojan hero Aeneas and his companions on their journey after the fall of Troy.

To be a hero, it is not enough to be born a favourite of the gods. The hero’s path is, above all, a journey toward self-awareness. Through trials and temptations, the true hero must come to understand himself and make his own choice — a conscious and free one. No matter how many times the story of Aeneas and his fellow Trojans has been retold, it continues to feel contemporary. Especially today, when everyone in the country is following their own path toward liberation, this story reveals new and relevant dimensions.

Eneida at the Kyiv Academic Puppet Theatre is an epic, dynamic, and large-scale production that combines a strong visual language with a powerful narrative drive. Alongside its epic scope, the performance leaves room for humour — an essential element of the Ukrainian interpretation of Eneida, where a well-aimed joke is as important as heroism itself.
