Гелена Чермакова
Helena Čermáková is a distinguished Czech actress and a long-standing pillar of the Municipal Theatre Zlín, where she ranks among the most respected members of the ensemble. She was born in Brno and studied acting at JAMU (Janáček Academy of Performing Arts). During her studies, she was already actively involved in theatre. Shortly after graduating, she guest-performed at the Realistic Theatre Zdeněk Nejedlý in Prague (today’s Švandovo Theatre), but since 1982 her artistic home has been firmly rooted in Zlín.
On the Zlín stage, she has created dozens of powerful and memorable roles, marked by precision, inner intensity and exceptional psychological depth. She received the Thalia Award in 1999 for her performance as Judith, and was repeatedly nominated for the same prestigious prize for her roles as Lady Torrance (The Descent of Orpheus) and the title role in Hippodamia (The Death of Hippodamia).
In addition to drama, Helena Čermáková is also devoted to chanson singing, where she fully expresses her musicality and sensitivity to text. Critics describe her as “an actress of remarkable inner strength, voice and charisma, capable of filling the entire stage with her presence.”
